The WMCC:

Rajnath Singh pointed to the meeting on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) of the Working Framework for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC), held almost earlier this month, and said that the next round of military talks might take part at any moment.

Defence Minister stated during the interview with ANI:

It is true that negotiations have taken place at the military and diplomatic levels to reduce the standoff between India and China. But so far, no success has been made.

The next round of talks at the military level would take place, which can take place at any time. But there has been no positive result, and there is a status quo,’ he claimed.

If the status quo remains, it is clear how deployment can be decreased. There will be no reductions in our deployment, and I would not drop their deployment either. I don’t think the status quo at all is a good creation.

There are talks, and they lead to a good result, which is our hope, he added. He reported that hotline messages were exchanged.

Further Defence Minister stated in an interview:

An exchange of messages is taking place among the two countries on what issues will be discussed,” he said. After the WMCC meeting on 18 December, the External Affairs Committee reported that both parties agreed to maintain close consultations at diplomatic as well as military levels.

the 9th round of talks will be held early:

They decided that the next (9th) round of Senior Commanders’ discussions should take place at an early stage in order for both sides to work towards the early as well as complete disengagement of LAC troops in compliance with existing mutual agreements and protocols and also to fully restore peace and quiet.
