Ramayana Gets Global Title: Rise of a Legend Arrives November 6

The makers of Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited mythological epic have officially announced the film’s international title as Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. The reveal came on September 28, coinciding with lead actor Ranbir Kapoor’s birthday. The film, earlier referred to as Ramayana: Part 1, will release worldwide on November 6.

Sony Pictures Makes the Announcement

Sony Pictures, the film’s overseas distributor, shared the news on its official X page. The post described the film as “mankind’s greatest story” brought to life by the visual artists behind The Odyssey and Dune. It promised the most immersive 3D cinematic experience ever, available exclusively in theatres, including IMAX and Premium Large Formats. The film will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

Ahead of the announcement, the team unveiled two new posters featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash. On September 26, the makers also hosted a grand event attended by popular YouTuber MrBeast, who interacted with Ranbir and producer Namit Malhotra. The official trailer arrived in August, followed by the first song a few weeks ago.

A Star-Studded Cast and Musical Powerhouse

Produced by Namit Malhotra’s DNEG and Prime Focus Studios, the film is mounted as a global-scale adaptation. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, with Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Vivek Oberoi as Vidyutjihva. The ensemble also includes Sheeba Chaddha, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta and Arun Govil.

The music features an international lineup: Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer, AR Rahman and Grammy-winning composer James Newton Howard.

With its title now locked, a firm release date and a multilingual rollout, anticipation continues to build for what is being positioned as one of the biggest Indian cinematic ventures to reach a worldwide audience.
