Ranbir Kapoor Radiates Divine Aura as Lord Rama, Says Co-Star Surbhi Das

The anticipation for Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus, Ramayana, continues to build as cast members share their experiences from the set of the high-stakes production. Most recently, actress Surbhi Das, who portrays Shrutakirti in the film, opened up about her first impressions of lead actor Ranbir Kapoor. Das revealed that Kapoor’s transformation goes beyond mere costume and makeup, noting that he embodied the “aura and energy” required for the divine role of Lord Rama even when the cameras were not rolling.

A Masterclass in Character Immersion

According to Das, the scale of the project was initially overwhelming, but Kapoor’s presence provided a grounding sense of authenticity. “My God, this guy is actually looking like Rama,” she recalled thinking during their time on set. She highlighted his graceful demeanor and the “quiet strength” he brought to the character, reinforcing the director’s vision of a culturally rooted yet cinematically grand retelling. This sentiment echoes previous praise from veteran actor Arun Govil, who portrays King Dasharath, further cementing Kapoor’s reputation as a deeply committed performer.

Global Ambitions and Record-Breaking Scale

Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious ventures with a reported budget of ₹4,000 crore. The two-part saga features a powerhouse technical team, including music legends AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. While some critics, such as original Ramayana star Sunil Lahri, have expressed reservations about the character’s “harsh” look in early teasers, the buzz remains undeniable. With promotional posters already hitting New York’s Times Square, the film is poised for a massive global debut in Diwali 2026.
