After outstanding victories in their respective matches on Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) advanced to the table. 

In Chennai, Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced Kolkata Knight Riders on the first doubleheader day of the IPL 2021.

RCB put on a fantastic batting display:

Although losing two quick wickets in the game, RCB put on a fantastic batting display. 

As Kohli and Co. posted a massive total of 204 for 4, Glenn Maxwell (78) and AB de Villiers (76*) smashed the KKR bowlers all over the park. The Eoin Morgan-led team was restricted to 166 for 8 in reply, losing by 38 runs.

The second game was between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings:

RCB is in the first position with six points and a net run rate of +0.750 after three consecutive victories.

In the second match, among Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, KL Rahul & Co were defeated once more as Shikhar Dhawan’s blistering 49-ball 92 dominated Mayank Agar’s (69) and knocks (61) Rahul’s (69). The PBKS set a lofty 196-run goal, but DC had no trouble chasing it down.

With 4 points and a net run rate of +0.453, the Rishabh Pant-led team won by six wickets and ten balls to move into third place on the points table.

The overall standings of the Orange Cap:

Shikhar Dhawan and Glenn Maxwell, both batsmen, have made significant progress on the Orange cap chart. Dhawan is the current Purple Cap holder after a 92-run knock to lead DC to a fantastic victory. 

The Delhi opener has a total of 186 runs to his credit. With 176 runs and two half-centuries, RCB’s Maxwell, who won the Orange Cap after scoring 78 towards KKR, is now in second place. 

KL Rahul (155), Nitish Rana (155) of KKR, and De Villiers (125) of PBKS are in third, fourth, and fifth place overall.

The overall standing of Purple Cap:

The standings have not changed much in the Purple Cap list, but Harshal Patel’s lead has grown to 9 wickets. He took two wickets against KKR to add to his tally. 

MI spinner Rahul Chahar is ranked second after his 3-wicket haul towards SRH on Saturday; 

Avesh Khan (6) of DC  has advanced up to third place, whereas Trent Boult (6) and Andre Russell (6) stays at fourth and fifth place, respectively.
