On Sunday, US President Joe Biden unveiled a new $375 million package of military help to Ukraine, telling President Volodymyr Zelensky that the US was doing everything it could to improve Ukraine’s defences against Russia.
On the sidelines of the G7 conference in Hiroshima, Japan, Biden told the Ukrainian president that the military aid package included ammunition, artillery, armoured vehicles, and training.
“Together with the entire G7, we have Ukraine’s back, and I promise you, we’re not going anywhere,” Biden told Zelensky.
According to the White House, during the meeting, Biden reiterated his country’s readiness to help Ukraine build long-term capabilities to protect against and deter Russian aggression.
To that end, Biden proposed US assistance for a collaborative effort with allies and also partnered to train Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation fighter aircraft like the F-16, according to the report.
According to his office, Zelensky praised the US for the new package as well as the $37 billion in financial support provided to date.
