DY Patil Principal, was attacked by Bajrang Dal a few days back for putting the camera in the female washroom of the school and for several other reasons. 

The video is getting viral on the internet, as Congress MP Shashi Tharoor tweeted and expressed his anger on the issue, read below what he says. 

A video allegedly from Pune’s DY Patil High School went viral, showing administrator Alexander Coates Reid running with his shirt and vest shredded. 

According to reports, VHP and Bajrang Dal activists assaulted him on the school grounds. The footage shows the attackers yelling ‘Har Har Mahadev’. 

Sharing the clip on Twitter, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor wrote about the incident. This is disgraceful. What gives Bajrang Dal the right to take violent action with such impunity? And how dare they claim to be defending Hinduism? No decent Hindu behaves like this. #NotInMyName.

What happened at Pune’s DY Patil High School? According to reports, the attackers were accompanied by other parents who had two complaints: CCTV cameras in the girls’ lavatory and the recitation of Christian prayer in the school.

A parent filed an FIR claiming that the school administrators installed a CCTV camera in the toilets for female students, held Bible prayers, and did not offer holidays for Hindu festivals. 

“We are looking into the allegations levelled by the parents, and an investigation is underway,” Talegaon MIDC police inspector Ranjit Sawant said, according to PTI.

A parent alleged that if a parent expressed these issues, the principal and other teachers harassed the student.

When Block Education Officer S R Walunj visited the school, he discovered no CCTV cameras, but the school personnel confessed that there was one and that it had been removed. The administration stated that they were unaware of the CCTV camera.
