Read the shocking remark of Kamal Haasan on The Kerala Story

Sudipto Sen’s controversial film, The Kerala Story, has prompted actor-politician Kamal Haasan to call it a propaganda piece. He was in Abu Dhabi when he spoke to the media.

During the interview, he stated that it was not enough for the filmmakers to include a ‘true story’ at the end of the film’s title and expect people to accept it.

Kamal Haasan remark on The Kerala Story:

According to the news agency ANI, Kamal Haasan stated, “I told you, propagandist films are what I am against.” It’s not enough to simply write an ‘actual story’ at the bottom as a logo. That cannot be true.”

What makes the movie controversial:

The Kerala Story, written and directed by Sudipto Sen, stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani in prominent parts.

The film was released on May 5. Vipul Shah produced it, and has grossed over 200 crores at the film office.

The Kerala Story sparked outrage after its teaser was released. It alleged that around 32000 Kerala women were forced to convert to Islam and were recruited by ISIS.

Later, the image was removed from the film, and the trailer description stated that it was the story of three ladies from Kerala.

The movie sparked a tremendous political uproar, with many accusing it of propaganda. While celebrities such as Kangana Ranaut, Ram Gopal Varma, Vivek Agnihotri, and others defended the film, a few internet people expressed dissatisfaction with it. A group of people also urged that the film be banned.
