Record-Breaking Class 12 Results for Gujarat Board

Gujarat Board Records Best-Ever Class 12 Results; Girls Shine in General Stream

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) on Monday announced the Class 12 results for both the Science and General streams, marking the best-ever performance in the state’s board exam history. The Science stream recorded an impressive overall pass percentage of 83.51%, while the General stream soared to 93.7%, both setting new benchmarks.

A total of 1,00,575 students appeared for the Science stream examination, while 3,62,506 candidates sat for the General stream. The Science stream’s result is the highest in the past decade, and the General stream too saw a significant rise in pass percentage over previous years.

Girls Lead in General Stream

While boys and girls performed almost equally in the Science stream—83.20% for girls and 83.79% for boys—the General stream results showed a notable gender gap. Girls outshone boys with a pass percentage of 95.23%, compared to 90.75% for boys, continuing a trend of female academic excellence seen in recent years.

Rise in 100% Pass Schools

One of the key highlights of this year’s results was the rise in the number of schools achieving a 100% pass rate. In the Science stream, the number of such schools increased from 127 last year to 194 this year. In the General stream, 2,005 schools recorded a perfect result, up from 1,609 in 2024.

Despite this progress, the number of schools with less than a 10% pass rate also saw a slight uptick. In the Science stream, the number of such schools rose from 27 to 34, and in the General stream from 19 to 21, indicating that some pockets still need focused academic support.

Medium of Instruction: A Consistent Show

Both English and Gujarati-medium students performed consistently across streams. In the Science stream, English-medium students recorded a pass percentage of 83.49%, closely followed by Gujarati-medium students at 83.77%. For the General stream, English-medium students performed slightly better with a 93.97% pass rate, compared to 93.07% for Gujarati-medium students.

Differently-Abled Students

Among differently-abled candidates, 26 out of 143 Science stream students passed under the 20% benchmark category. In the General stream, 387 of 1,814 registered differently-abled students cleared the exam under the same category, reflecting the inclusive nature of the board’s evaluation policy.

Top Grades and District-Wise Highlights

In the Science stream, 831 students secured the coveted A1 grade, while 5,655 students achieved A1 in the General stream. Morbi district stood out with the highest pass percentage in Science at 92.91%, whereas Dahod was the lowest at 59.15%. In the General stream, Banaskantha led with 97.20%, while Vadodara recorded the lowest at 87.77%.

Malpractice Cases

Despite the largely positive outcome, the board reported 14 cases of misconduct during the Science exams and 112 cases in the General stream.

This year’s results not only reflect academic progress but also showcase balanced regional performance, improved inclusivity, and the narrowing gender gap in Science. As GSEB continues to reform examination and assessment methods, the upward trend in results could signal sustained improvement in Gujarat’s higher secondary education system.
