Ahmedabad is witnessing a staggering rise in road accident cases.
In Ahmedabad, vehicle accidents are leading to an alarming average of 75 injuries per day, according to data provided by 108 EMRI services.
Between January and September 2024, the city recorded 78,415 injuries from road accidents, a significant increase of 19,122 cases compared to the same period in 2023.
State-Wide Increase in Road Accident Injuries
The situation is not limited to Ahmedabad. Across Gujarat, a total of 1,19,220 individuals were injured in road accidents during the first nine months of 2024. This translates to an average of 436 injuries per day, with Ahmedabad accounting for 17% of these cases.

Spike in Accidents During Navratri
The festive season, particularly during Navratri, saw a further surge in accident cases. There was an 18% increase in road accidents during the nine days of Navratri in Gujarat.
In Ahmedabad alone, 8,437 emergency cases were reported during the festival, including health emergencies like abdominal pain, breathing issues, high fever, cardiac attacks, and strokes. Across the state, 41,339 emergency cases were logged during Navratri, reflecting a rise in both road accidents and health emergencies.
These statistics underscore the need for heightened road safety measures and public awareness, especially during festive periods when the risk of accidents tends to increase.

Authorities have been implementing safety measures, including deploying medical teams and ambulances at major Garba events, to manage the potential rise in accidents and health issues
