Rohit Sharma squashes comparisons with MS Dhoni, says MSD is one of a kind.
Responding to Suresh Raina’s comments on Rohit Sharma being the “next MS Dhoni”, Sharma said that nobody can be like him (Dhoni).
Team India Vice-Captain and Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma has squashed the comparisons being made between him and former India captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. After Suresh Raina praised Rohit Sharma and labelled him as the “next MS Dhoni” last week, the Indian opener came out and played down the comparisons.
Suresh Raina labels Rohit Sharma as the “next MS Dhoni”:
Suresh Raina, an all-rounder, has played under both the players in his career, with MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL, and with Rohit at the 2018 Nidahas Trophy. Raina heaped praises on the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and described the vice-captain as a leader who likes to back the youngsters, while also being a good listener in the dressing room. Raina in The Super Over Podcast, said,” I would say he is the next MS Dhoni for the Indian Cricket team. He is calm, he likes to listen, he likes to give confidence to the players, and on top of that, he likes to lead from the front.”

Responding to the comparisons being made between him and the Jharkhand captain-cool, Rohit Sharma said that nobody can be like MSD, he is one of a kind. He posted a video on Twitter and wrote,” I heard about the comment from Suresh Raina. MS Dhoni is one of a kind and nobody can be like him and I believe comparisons should not be made like that. Every individual is different and has his strengths and weaknesses.”
Rohit Sharma is the most successful Indian Premier League captain, with 4 titles to his name, one more than MS Dhoni who has three.
