Salman Khan death threat sender from Gujarat found mentally ill, says police

A man from Gujarat who sent a death threat to Salman Khan has been identified as mentally ill.

Mumbai Police Trace Threat to Vadodara Man

A 26-year-old man from Waghodia taluka in Vadodara, Gujarat, who allegedly sent a death threat to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, has been found to be mentally unstable, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

The threat was sent via WhatsApp to the Mumbai Traffic Police helpline on Sunday, warning of a bomb attack on Khan’s car and a potential assault on the actor inside his home.

Legal Action and Security Measures

Following the message, Worli Police in Mumbai registered a case under Section 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and stepped up security at Khan’s Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra.

Mumbai police, during their investigation, tracked the origin of the message to Waghodia in Gujarat. A team, along with local Waghodia police, visited the suspect’s home on Monday.

Suspect Under Treatment

Speaking to the media, Vadodara district Superintendent of Police Rohan Anand said:

“It turned out that the man is mentally unstable and is undergoing treatment.”

The Mumbai police served the man with a notice for appearance and then returned.

Past Threats and Security Concerns

This incident adds to a series of threats against Salman Khan. In April 2024, two men fired four rounds outside his Bandra home. The actor has previously received threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, demanding an apology over the alleged blackbuck poaching case.

Khan now has Y-Plus security due to the persistent threats. Last year, the Navi Mumbai Police also uncovered a plan by the same gang to attack him during a trip to his Panvel farmhouse.
