Four supposed ISIS terrorists, who are Sri Lankan nationals, were charged at the Ahmedabad airport on Monday, Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) said.

Authorities are currently interrogating individuals who have been detained on suspicion of terrorism at Ahmedabad Airport.

The suspects were apprehended while allegedly awaiting their handler, as reported by NDTV. Security measures have been intensified at the airport in response to the incident.

Origin of Suspects

Media reports indicate that the detained individuals arrived in Ahmedabad via Chennai from Sri Lanka. Further details regarding their identities and motives are awaited as the investigation progresses.

Recent Airport Threat and Ongoing Elections

This development occurs in the wake of a bomb threat email received by the Ahmedabad airport on May 12, which was subsequently determined to be a false alarm after an extensive search operation.

Recent Terrorist Activity in Baramulla

Baramulla is among the constituencies participating in today’s polling. The incident underscores ongoing security concerns in the region.

Previous Arrests and Terrorism Links

In August of the previous year, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested three individuals from Rajkot over alleged connections to Al Qaeda.

These individuals were reportedly involved in radicalization and recruitment activities on behalf of the banned terrorist organization, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism within the country.
