Shilpa Shetty appears in Nikamma as a superhero to help lazy Abhimanyu

Shilpa Shetty reprises her role as Nikamma; the trailer was released on Tuesday.

The film stars Abhimanyu Dassani as the male lead, and Shirley Setia makes her Bollywood debut.

Shilpa Shetty is back on the big screen with Nikamma, and the trailer shows she’s doing something different this time. The Nikamma trailer, which stars Abhimanyu Dassani as a lazy, jobless boy, revolves around how he only believes in having fun seven days a week. When Shilpa Shetty appears as a superhero to make him responsible, he eventually stands up to fight the film’s antagonist for his family.

Shirley Setia, who makes her Bollywood debut with Nikamma, is also introduced in the trailer. It depicts Abhimanyu’s Sidharth (Sid) lounging around from Monday to Thursday, then going to the movies on Friday, drinking on Saturday, and painting the town red with Shirley’s Siya on Sunday.

The trailer also features a recreated version of the popular Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa song Nikamma Kiya Is Dil Ne.

“Ye to movie ka remake yaar Pehle poster dekh ke Laga ta ki koi mast superhero movie he lekin ye to remake nikli disappointment (this is a remake, earlier it looked like a superhero film, such a disappointment),” one person wrote in response to the trailer. “Disastrous se bhi upar wala trailer!” wrote another. However, many people praised the trailer as well.

Abhimanyu stated, “Nikamma transformed me from an actor into a hero when asked about the film. It exemplifies what Bollywood stands for high-quality entertainment. The movie appealed to me because of its wholesome package of emotions, ranging from action, romance, comedy, and drama. Given the core values at stake, the story is extremely relatable and resonates with everyone in our society. I had a good time working on the film and can’t wait for the audience to see it.”

Shilpa’s 14-year film break ended last year with her appearance in the 2021 film Hungama 2. Nikamma is Shilpa’s first silver screen appearance in over a decade, having debuted on Disney+ Hotstar.
