SIU: Eskom CEO never disclosed the name of Ministers who were part of the corruption

SIU: Eskom CEO never disclosed the name of Ministers who were part of the corruption

Although regular interactions with former Eskom CEO André de Ruyter, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) claims that de Ruyter never disclosed that certain ministers were engaged in corruption at the embattled energy company.

Advocate Andy Mothibi, the head of the SIU, has given his team, which is looking into corruption at Eskom, instructions to get in touch with de Ruyter about his claims that some ministers are involved in corruption at the power company.

Following his resignation, De Ruyter made the accusations in an interview with a private television station.

De Ruyter’s information on corruption is of interest to the SIU, according to SIU spokesman Kaizer Kganyago.

“From the start, we’ve had meetings with Eskom’s former CEO. When he arrived, we had a meeting where we briefed him on all of these investigations, and we had frequent meetings with him, but I can confidently say that he never informed us about these ministers who are supposed to be involved in this.”

“But now that it’s in the public domain, it’s of interest to us because we’re investigating under a proclamation, and this is the type of information that we need to know as the SIU,” Kganyago adds.

Advocate Mothibi, the head of the SIU, has directed the Eskom investigation team to contact him and ensure that he provides us with that information.
