Key Takeaways:

  • The positive reviews his films receive when they are screened at international film festivals are no longer a surprise to Manoj Bajpayee.

Manoj Bajpayee is no longer surprised when his movies receive praise when they screen at international film festivals. This time, it’s his newest Joram, which will have the world premiere at the 52nd International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Big Screen Competition section (IFFR).

He explains, “This is a chance for the movie to mark the start of its journey. It’s coming together beautifully, and Devashish (Makhija, director), who also spoke highly of the movie, made me extremely proud.

He began his career with me (with the movie Bhosle, 2020) and is now showcasing his talents to the country.

He doesn’t just stick to big movies; he continues to support smaller, independent productions. Smaller films are currently performing better than big ones, according to Bajpayee.

“The companies that are succeeding are the small banners. Large banners do not imply high-quality content. He is clear: “I look for important directors and writers.

Actors often feel uneasy during first screenings, but the National Award-winning actor shares his mantra for how he feels when an audience first views his movie.

The 53-year-old says, at the risk of coming off as arrogant, “I mean, I would say that the festivals and awards are all the by-products of the work that one does.

However, as time passes, you realise that you are only acting in this manner to honour the character assigned to us. I try to do that to the best of my ability, and after that, I don’t give any of these things much thought.

I do take pleasure in these festivals, but I wouldn’t say I have any expectations. I anticipate enjoying myself and having a good time.

Does he sense the pressure of knowing that high hopes are attached to any project that bears his name? Does he consider this factor when selecting a movie? “My pressure doesn’t come from outside; I don’t take it,” the actor claims. I adore this profession and only want to engage in work that inspires, tests and advances my acting abilities.
