Due to a family tragedy, director Zack Snyder had to
drop out of the project and is now releasing the version he shot of the Justice
League, called “Snyder Cut”, and that will not have any footage shot by
substitute director, Joss Whedon.
Filmmaker Zack Snyder has officially revealed that no footage other than the one he shot will feature into the upcoming special edition of DC’s Justice League, the Snyder Cut. At the Justice Con panel, especially held and dedicated to Snyder and his cut of the superhero franchise, Snyder revealed that he would not be comfortable to use someone else’s footage in his vision of the film. Snyder said,” I would destroy the movie. I would set it on fire before I would use a single frame that I did not photograph.”
Snyder Cut to have no footage
from Joss Whedon’s cut:
Zack Snyder was the director of the Justice League, and during the post-production of the film, the Watchmen director had to drop out of the project as a family tragedy struck him. Post his departure, Joss Whedon took over and finished the film, as he was already one of the screenwriters. The Whedon cut was released in cinemas to highly negative reviews and received a lukewarm response from the worldwide audience. The film was also a colossal failure at the box office, and soon after it’s release, Snyder’s fans demanded a Snyder cut of the superhero movie. To everyone’s shock, HBO Max announced that Snyder Cut of the Justice League will be released on the platform next year.
Snyder calls Whedon’s cut a
“Frankenstein’s monster”:
Snyder
on the theatrically-released version said,” I literally would blow that thing
up if I thought for a second. Anything you see in this movie that reminds you
of the theatrical release- which again, famously, I have literally never seen-
would be because that was a thing that I had done, and was being borrowed for
whatever, that Frankenstein’s monster that you got in the theater.”
