Several political leaders were expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a two-day tour to West Bengal by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the run-up to the critical assembly polls.

At a rally previously this week, TMC leader Mamata Banerjee sent out a powerful message to rebels inside the party.

Shah, who will arrive in Kolkata on Friday at about 11 pm, is expected to camp throughout the state during the weekend to support the campaign of the party.

Several political leaders may Join BJP: 

“We are hearing that certain political leaders will join the BJP around January 30 and 31,” says Mukul Roy, the BJP’s national vice president.

Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief, as well as minister Suvendu Adhikari, entered the BJP on December 19, the last moment Shah had arrived in Bengal.

At minimum two ministers in the government of Mamata Banerjee then ruled from their positions. While yet another MLA has been expelled by the party, the other has left after a show-because notice was given.

At just the earliest, those who have been waiting in line will leave. Otherwise, the train would miss you. Those who deserted were certain that they would not have been issued tickets by the TMC to contest the elections, Banerjee said in a recent rally.

Lunch at ISKCON for Union Home Minister: 

The Union Home Minister is planned to hold lunch at the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) headquarters of Mayapur from January 30 until attending a rally at Thakurnagar in North 24 Parganas, a region inhabited among the Dalit community of Matuas.

The Sunday schedule of Amit Shah:

He is planned to attend Bharat Sevashram Sangh in Kolkata on Sunday and also address a Dumurjala rally in Howrah. Shah, a 19th-century educator as well as a social reformer, is also scheduled to visit the residence of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.

He is expected to have lunch with a family of Bagdi (Dalit), attend street shows in Uluberia, and give puja at a temple of Kali before departing on Sunday night for Delhi.
