On Saturday, Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh offered an apology to Vivek Doval, son of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
In January 2019, the court became aware of Doval’s criminal defamation case and Ramesh was granted bail in May 2019.
I realized that maybe there might have been some independent testing in order.
On Saturday, Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh offered an apology to Vivek Doval, son of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, just before a Delhi court in January last year in connection with a criminal defamation case.
Due to their alleged defamatory comments and articles against him, Vivek Doval filed a defamation case against Ramesh and Caravan Magazine. He accepted an apology from Ramesh.
Defamation case filed by Vivek Doval:
After the article The D Companies was released in the magazine, Vivek Doval filed a defamation case against Ramesh, and also the Caravan as well as journalist Kaushal Shroff.
In January 2019, the court became aware of Doval’s criminal defamation case and Ramesh was granted bail in May 2019. Defamation proceedings are going to begin against The Caravan as well as Shroff.
As Ramesh Stated:
While subcontracting the apology, Ramesh also said that his statements were based on a news report and said “maybe some independent confirmation may have been in order.” Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Sachin Gupta addressed the matter on Saturday.
The Congress leader made certain statements against Vivek Doval:
In a press conference on January 17, 2019, the leader of Congress made some remarks against Vivek Doval, his family as well as his GNA Asia Fund business venture.
“I understand you were profoundly upset by these comments. I want to explain why these claims or allegations, drawing inference from an article published in the Caravan magazine the previous day were made.
Ramesh in his letter to Vivek Doval:
As the case progressed, I realized that maybe there might have been some independent testing in order. The General Elections were however close, and it seemed fitting to highlight the issues posed in the article in public.
In retrospect, in making those insinuations towards you and your colleagues, I may have gone overboard,” Ramesh said that in his letter to Vivek.
Therefore, I would like to give my apologies for any harm the statements have caused to you and your families.
I would also advise the INC to delete from the press releases available through the internet the press conference,’ he stated.
