Gujarat rain: In September, the state has received 124 mm of showers.
The withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon in Gujarat, delayed by around 10 days, is likely to begin on Monday, September 25. Despite this delay, the state has already recorded over 125% of its average seasonal rainfall.
According to weather forecasts, several parts of Gujarat are expected to experience heavy rainfall between September 25 and September 27.
Monsoon Onset and Delay in Withdrawal
The Southwest Monsoon arrived in Gujarat on June 11, four days ahead of the usual schedule. However, its withdrawal has been delayed. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that conditions are becoming favorable for the monsoon’s retreat from parts of West Rajasthan and Kutch around September 23.
Last year, the monsoon withdrawal began on September 21.
According to Ramashray Yadav, the in-charge regional director of IMD Ahmedabad, “The withdrawal is about 10 days behind the usual schedule of September 15. The exact time for full withdrawal can only be determined after it begins.”
Heavy Rain Forecast for Gujarat
As the monsoon lingers, Gujarat is set to receive another spell of heavy rainfall this week. The weather department forecasts heavy rain in the districts of South Gujarat, including Dang, Tapi, Navsari, and Valsad.
