Violence has emerged in Baradari, Bareilly, during the Kanwar Yatra, as kanwariyas says that stones were pelted at them.
On Sunday, violence flared in the Baradari area of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, after a group of kanwariyas alleged that stones were thrown at them.
According to police, the dispute started with each side throwing “some object” at one other and ended with both sides pelting stones.
“During an examination of video footage of the incident, it was discovered that stones were thrown from both sides.”
Police deployed in the area during Kanwar Yatra:
“An additional police force has been deployed in the area, and the situation has been brought under control,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (Bareilly) Prabhakar Chaudhary, adding that they are attempting to identify the accused using video and CCTV footage and that strict action would be taken against those found guilty.
While police sources said three people were harmed in the stone-pelting incident, the SSP stated that no one had been injured yet.
Statement by SSP of Bareilly:
According to police, a procession of kanwariyas was walking through a mosque in the Joginavada area when a fight broke out over the hurling of “something.”
“When the procession was about 40-50 yards from the sacred edifice, a group began pelting stones at kanwariyas… Stones were also thrown at the police team that was on the scene. When an additional police squad arrived, the situation came under control… When the video was inspected, it was discovered that stones were thrown from both sides…
The police officers on the scene kept the situation under control, and the procession continued,” according to a statement issued by the SSP of Bareilly.
The kanwariyas then mounted a protest, demanding that an FIR be filed, and the accused be arrested.
“An FIR has been filed at the Baradari Police Station.” “A few people have been detained for questioning,” Rakesh Singh, Inspector General (Bareilly Range), said.
According to sources, kanwariyas have accused a former corporator from the area of being behind the attack.
According to Additional District Magistrate (Bareilly City) RD Pandey, the situation is normal, and an additional police force has been deployed in the region.

Uttar Pradesh minister Arun Kumar, also an MLA from Bareilly, stated that some unwanted forces wished to create conflict in the state and damage the atmosphere. “As a result, a fair inquiry will be conducted, and those found guilty will face severe punishment,” he stated.
