The Indian National Congress—the biggest Opposition party in the Rajya Sabha—has looked for an explanation from executive Venkaiah Naidu about named MP Swapan Dasgupta challenging in West Bengal gathering surveys.
In a letter to the Rajya Sabha executive, Congress boss whip Jairam Ramesh brought up that Dasgupta has neither left the House before challenging the political race nor joined any gathering.
Dasgupta’s name has been declared as the BJP up-and-comer from Tarakeshwar on Sunday.
The Congress’ move comes after Trinamool MP Mohua Moitra claimed that Dasgupta had disregarded the tenth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Jairam Ramesh’s letter stated:
Congress boss whip in the Rajya Sabha Jairam Ramesh’s letter to Naidu said, “Can a designated individual from the Rajya Sabha who hosts not officially combined a political get inside a half year of selection and proceeds as a non-party, assigned part challenge races to Parliament or the get together without first leaving as a named part?”
He added, “You didn’t report any such abdication in these previous few days. I need not say any more”.

Dasgupta was nominated to Rajya Sabha:
Dasgupta was named to Rajya Sabha by the President of India in April 2016.
As indicated by the tenth Schedule that manages exclusion of MPs, “A designated individual from a House will be excluded for being an individual from the House if he joins any ideological group after the expiry of a half year from the date on which he sits down in the wake of conforming to the necessities of article 99 or, all things considered, article 188.”
Articles 99 and 188 of the Indian Constitution identifies with pledge taking of administrators.
Dasgupta has been handled as the BJP competitor in the Tarakeshwar seat in the resulting Bengal state decisions.
MP Mohua Moitra Tweeted:
On Monday, Moitra had tweeted, “Swapan Dasgupta is BJP possibility for WB surveys.
Tenth Schedule of Constitution says named RS part to be precluded on the off chance that he joins any ideological group AFTER expiry of a half year from the vow.
He was confirmed in April 2016, remains unallied. Should be excluded NOW for joining BJP.”
