Tadap movie review: In Milan Luthria’s latest, Ahan Shetty makes an aggressive film debut.
A heroic entry on a motorcycle driving through the hills, with a song playing in the background, a joint being rolled, and a some closeup shots of a rugged man. Before we see Ahan Shetty’s face, we see his punch breaking the door and making a grand entrance. Launching a Starkid is not an easy task, which is why Tadap has been met with much anticipation and expectation. Ahan Shetty, Suniel Shetty’s son, makes his acting debut.
Tadap, a new remake of the 2018 Telugu movie RX 100, which was based on an actual incident, serves up raw action laced with heavyweight dialogues, old-school romance, passion, deception, bloodshed, also a few poetic lines to adding a tinge of humor.
Tadap appears to be a traditional love story set in Mussoorie, involving a poor man, Ishaana, who falls in love with a girl, Ramisha. Unfortunately, her father forces her to marry a London businessman (by Kumud Mishra).
However, there is more to the line story than meets the eye.
Ahan Shetty and his character arch leave an indelible imprint. He makes an intense and impressive debut as a young, angry action hero. He commands every frame from the first scene, thanks to his commanding screen presence. With the first action sequence, Luthria makes it abundantly clear that the main goal of Tadap is to provide Ahan with ample space and an open canvas on which to demonstrate his acting prowess.
Tara Sutaria plays Ahan’s love interest in Tadap, and she looks stunning in scenes of romance or heartbreak. They have hot and intense chemistry. However, Tara’s character could have benefited from more depth and dimension to make it more believable to watch. As Ahan’s father figure, Saurabh Shukla, whom the entire town refers to as Daddy, is charming and supports the script.
With some sluggish flashback sequences, the film’s first half takes its sweet time building the narrative. On the other hand, the second half picks up the pace without delving into trivial matters. Instead, the plot unfolds at a breakneck pace, with twists and turns that draw you in closer to the characters and their stories with each scene.
