The festive season is synonymous with indulgence, and what better way to elevate evening feasts than with a creative twist on a beloved street food? Celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor brings his signature flair to momos, transforming them into a rich, flavourful dish-  Tandoori Gravy Momos. This recipe blends the simplicity of frozen momos with bold Indian spices, making it a perfect centrepiece for celebrations.

Preparation Time and Ingredients

The dish takes about 40 minutes: 10 minutes of prep and 30 minutes of cooking. The recipe calls for frozen corn and cheese momos, mustard oil, ginger-garlic paste, Kashmiri red chilli paste, turmeric, cumin, coriander, garam masala, hung yoghurt, butter, kasuri methi, chaat masala, fresh cream, and coriander leaves. These ingredients combine to create a creamy, spiced gravy that coats the momos beautifully.

Step-by-Step Method

  1. Steam the Momos: Place the frozen momos in a greased steamer basket and cook for 8–10 minutes until soft.
  2. Prepare the Gravy Base: Heat mustard oil in a pan, add ginger-garlic paste and chilli paste, and sauté until the oil separates.
  3. Add Spices: Mix in turmeric, red chilli powder, cumin, coriander, and garam masala. A squeeze of lemon juice and salt enhances the flavour.
  4. Creamy Touch: Stir in hung yoghurt, cook until the oil separates again, then add butter and kasuri methi for depth.
  5. Combine with Momos: Gently toss the steamed momos in the gravy, sprinkle chaat masala, and let them absorb the flavours for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Final Garnish: Serve hot, drizzled with fresh cream and topped with coriander leaves.
