The Gujarati movie ‘Chhello Show’ has selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars in 2023
The Film Federation of India (FFI) announced that the Gujarati film “Chhello Show” is India’s official entry for the 95th Academy Awards or Oscars.

This film has been announce as India’s official entry for the 95th Academy Awards or Oscars. The Pan Nalin-directed film, titled “Last Film Show” in English. It will be release in theatres across the country on October 14.
How did the “Chhello Show” get nominate for an Oscar?
“Chhello Show” was chose unanimously over films such as SS Rajamouli’s “RRR,” Ranbir Kapoor’s “Brahmastra. Part One Shiva,” Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Kashmir Files,” and R Madhavan’s directorial debut “Rocketry,” according to FFI president TP Aggarwal.
‘Chhello Show’ was chose unanimously by the 17-member jury. There were 13 films in total, including six in Hindi — ‘Brahmastra,’ ‘The Kashmir Files,’ ‘Anek,’ ‘Jhund”, “Badhaai Do,” and ‘Rocketry’. And one each in Tamil (‘Iravin Nizhal’), Telugu (‘RRR’), Bengali (‘Aparajito’), and Gujarati (‘Chhello Show’).
Concerning the “Hello Show or Last Film Show”:
The movie is produce by Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films. Jugaad Motion Pictures, Monsoon Films, Chhello Show LLP, and Marc Duale. It will represent India in the best international feature film category at the Oscars.
Nalin’s memories of falling in love with movies as a child in rural Gujarat inspired the story. During its festival run, it won numerous awards, including the Golden Spike at the 66th Valladolid Film Festival in Spain, where it also enjoyed commercial success.
- Last year, the Tamil drama “Koozhangal” (“Pebbles”), directed by filmmaker Vinothraj PS, was India’s official entry at the Oscars but did not make the shortlist.
- The last Indian film to reach the final five was Aamir Khan’s “Lagaan” in 2001.
- The other two Indian films in the top five are “Mother India” (1958) and “Salaam Bombay” (1989).
