The Nyari Dam, which supplies drinking water to one lakh families in West Rajkot, mixes with the daily sewage from 30 societies around Kangshiali village. This water flows into the western part of Rajkot. Most people drink daily.

Bhaskar’s team visited all the water sources in Rajkot to find out the water status in the dam supplying drinking water to Rajkot city, whether the water is potable and whether chemical or drainage effluent is discharged in the dam when waterborne diseases are likely to increase in summer.

 The most painful thing that came out of the shocking fact was that the Nyari Dam, which supplies drinking water to one lakh families in West Rajkot, mixes with the sewage discharged daily from 30 societies around Kangshiali village.

 This water flows into the western part of Rajkot. Most people drink daily.The corporation does chlorination of water from all the water sources only three times, but the drainage water is mixed in the Nyari dam every day. 

However, no action has been taken, which is a serious matter. Ruda officials are also responsible because there is no drainage system in the village, so the citizens have to drink water mixed with drainage.

So the situation like the Nyari-2 dam will also happen to Nyari-1. In

Rajkot city, drinking water was taken from Nyari-2 dam earlier. But it is also mixed with sewage and industrial wastewater. The filth increased, but the system did not take any action. 

Eventually, the situation became such that the dam’s water could not be purified. If this dirty water mixing in the Nyari-1 dam is not stopped, it will gradually increase, and the condition of Nyari-1 will also become like Nyari-2.

The builder builds a drainage ditch away from the apartment and immediately discharges the wastewater.

A cement dam was constructed to collect the wastewater from the drainage of 30 apartments in one place. However, this ridge has also been demolished due to increasing dirt in the vicinity.

Beams have been laid for drainage of water in such a way that no one would notice if the dam were broken. And because of this dirty water is released into the river.

Wastewater from more than 30 societies and apartments around Kangshiali is discharged into the river. And this dirty water reaches the Nyari-1 dam, which supplies drinking water to Rajkot every day.
