The studio of Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet rejected Ranveer Singh from featuring.

             Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise has divided Bollywood into parts. The more significant amounts have the insider (Star kids) which also led to a debate on nepotism.

The other part has the strugglers who have the talent but not given a chance that is the outsiders. The filmmaker Anurag Kashyap weighed on this topic. He believes that the OTT platform has given an opportunity to the outsiders to prove their talent. 

Anurag Kashyap revealed the story of Ranveer Singh when he struggled hard to get work in Bollywood : 

Ranveer, who has now won 2 Filmfare awards for the best male actor., struggled once. Everyone has their struggle, Ranveer too worked. Anurag says everyone believes that Ranveer is an outsider as he has a minor connection with Anil Kapoor’s family. But he has faced multiple rejections. He rejected for shaitan. Anurag wanted to take Ranveer in for Bombay velvet, but the studios denied his request. 

He also spoke to journalist Faye D’Souza about Ranveer’s storyline. He said that the studio didn’t believe him when he wanted to cast Ranveer in Bombay velvet. The studios threatened that they would not give him money. He has two stories of his production rejecting Ranveer Singh. 

Replacement of Ranveer Singh in Bombay velvet : 

Ranbir Kapoor was chosen in Bombay velvet opposite of Anushka Sharma. Ranbir Kapoor made his debut in Saawariya. He was praised for portraying Sanjay Dutt in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic. However, the film did not work out properly. The film didn’t gather many collections from the box office. 

Anurag’s opinion on nepotism : 

He fought nepotism when nepotism was a debate even in the 2000s. He and Kangana were friends earlier. They always did a film together. He said that nobody believed in Queen. Bollywood biggies support their people like any other business. 

He said the OTT platform has made it easier for the outsiders who prove themselves. Now the debate is pointless as everyone is getting a chance to show off their talent to the world. Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt are the most targeted people for supporting nepotism
