Chinese
manufacturers have long been accused of ripping off the designs of other
international automakers and mass-producing identical products under different
labels. The most recent is the Chinese automaker Wey’s Tank 300 Cybertank
project SUV.
The Tank 300
Cybertank, which will make its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, looks like a
cross between the upcoming Ford Bronco as well as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
The SUV’s frontal fascia is inspired by the Ford Bronco of the new millennium. The circular LED headlamps were bifurcated in the middle by sleek horizontal LED strips.
A horizontal
LED strip runs through the centre of the aggressive-looking front grille. The
Y-shaped LED fog lamps are conveniently positioned at either end of a chunky
bumper.
The flared
fenders, wheel arches, off-road-spec tyres, including overall muscular style of
the side profile look influenced by the majestic Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
Front-mounted LED spotting lights are mounted on the roof, and LED lights are also built into the side mirrors in the context of taillights, the rear profile features twin vertical LED strips on either side. In the back, there’s also a squarish spare wheel core.
Moving
inside, the style tends to be heavily influenced by the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
The steering wheel, centre console, and circular AC vents are all
G-Class-inspired.
The
instrument panel and digital infotainment system have been combined into one
big digital monitor. Aside from that, the dashboard has piano-black trim,
luxurious leather upholstery and so on.
There is
also a big panoramic sunroof. The roof-mounted solar cell on the Tank 300
Cybertank is a unique feature.
The carmaker
has yet to announce whether the Tank 30 Cybertank design features any
mechanical upgrades over the regular Tank 300, which would be powered by a
2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 227 horsepower at
max.
