On Tuesday, thousands of farmers who’ve been protesting on the Singhu border in Delhi for the previous two months began marching towards the national capital to stage their scheduled tractor rally to mark their protest against the three agricultural laws that the Centre had cleared in September of the last year.

Satnam Singh, a farmer from Tarn Taran, stated:

Several farmers have been seen walking to Delhi for the ‘tractor parade’ expected to begin at 12 pm, immediately after the Rajpath region of the Capital’s national Republic Day parade.

When questioned when the rally would end, Satnam Singh, a farmer riding a tractor from Tarn Taran, said that it would continue until the next day. As per the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) given to them, though, the police permitted them to conduct the tractor march only until 5 pm.

On one hand of the carriageway, hundreds of farmers have been seen marched through the capital, whereas vehicles, such as tractors, jeeps, as well as cars, could be observed on the other side. There are already so many farmers who have fallen flat of tractors, says Satnam Singh.

police say about 30,000 tractors are likely to participate in the rally:

Tractors have also been loaded with food as well as water many of which have been painted with the colours of the national flag, as farmers from across all borders will be joining the rally today afternoon.

The police claim the rally is likely to include about 30,000 tractors, but farm representatives said the number of vehicles would be closer to 200,000. Farm unions have vowed not to switch from the three paths based around the boundaries of Singhu, Tikri as well as Ghazipur.

Deputy Police Commissioner East Delhi stated:

It is also predicted that farmers from the border of Tikri will enter Delhi in a short time. We are in contact with the Uttar Pradesh Police and also with the leaders of the farmers. “During the farmer’s tractor march, we already deployed drones for security monitoring Deputy Police Commissioner East Delhi informed ANI news agency at the Ghazipur border protest.

As Samyukt Kisan Morcha stated:

On Monday, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha said that although the Republic Day rally is scheduled as a one-day affair, the size of the strike could indicate that by the time they returned to their starting points on three separate rally routes in and also around the Capital, the rally might spill off to the next day.

Through November 26 last year, thousands of farmers mostly from Punjab as well as Haryana have also been protesting at the border of Delhi to protest towards farm laws passed during the Parliament’s monsoon conference. However, for the time being, the act has been suspended by the Supreme Court.
