Usain Bolt surprises junior footballers by visiting Blackburn’s match

Junior footballers got a surprise at their latest game when the planet’s fastest man turned up to cheer them on.

On Monday, eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt turned into the under-15s match between rivals Blackburn Rovers and Burnley.

The former sprinter made the visit to Lancashire to see a friend whose son is now on trial with Blackburn.

Rovers shared a photo of the star with the squad after the match, which has been viewed thousands of times.

Usain Bolt, 36, quit athletics in 2017 after winning eight Olympic championships and 11 World Championship gold medals.

At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he created new world records for the 100m and 200m.

His 100m span of 9.58 seconds, formed during the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, is the world record now.

On Sunday, Bolt had earlier attended Manchester United beat Fulham 3-1 in the FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford.

A football fan who has expressed it as his “dream” to play professional football, Bolt landed a trial with the Australian team Central Coast Mariners in 2018 but did not end up signing for the club.

Bolt is too known for his iconic celebration.

Mr Bolt filed his application for the brand on 17 August.

It shows “The shape of a man in a specific pose, with one arm bent and pointing to the head, and the other hand lifted and pointing upward.”

He plans to use the photo on items including clothes, jewellery and shoes, as well as eateries and sports bars, the filing shows.
