Actor praises co-stars’ surprising knowledge of Indian martial arts and heritage.

Vidyut Jammwal, making his Hollywood debut in Street Fighter, has expressed amazement at how deeply his international co-stars appreciate Indian culture. The actor revealed that several of them, including 50 Cent and Noah Centineo, know kalarippayattu- India’s ancient martial art and can even blow a conch, a skill he believes many Indians themselves struggle with.

Jammwal, who has trained in kalaripayattu since childhood, plays Dhalsim, a martial-arts- and yoga-rooted character from the iconic video game series. He described the role as a natural fit, noting that while Dhalsim’s supernatural abilities go beyond reality, the martial arts foundation felt close to his own practice.

The film’s ensemble cast features Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, 50 Cent, and Jason Momoa. Jammwal said working alongside such global legends was life-changing, highlighting their humility and authenticity despite their fame and success.

For Jammwal, Street Fighter is more than just a blockbuster opportunity- it’s a chance to showcase kalaripayattu to a worldwide audience. Drawing parallels to Bruce Lee’s role in popularizing kung fu, he expressed confidence that the Indian martial art will eventually have its moment on the global stage.

Street Fighter is set to release in theatres on October 16, 2026, bringing together gaming nostalgia, martial arts heritage, and Hollywood action spectacle.
