Vishal Backs Udhayanidhi, Urges Equal Action Against YouTubers

Tamil actor Vishal has come out in support of Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu, following the row over his alleged remarks about actress Trisha Krishnan. Vishal said their friendship remains unaffected by political differences, recalling fond memories from their student days and reaffirming his affection for Udhayanidhi and his wife, Kiruthiga.

Vishal Calls for Equal Treatment

Udhayanidhi was briefly detained and questioned for about an hour at the Sengipatti Police Station in Thanjavur district earlier this month, after the women’s wing of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam filed a complaint accusing him of making a double-meaning comment about Trisha during a Cauvery rights protest. Reacting to the incident, Vishal said that while such controversies are common in politics, he wished the same standard of accountability applied to everyone who makes disparaging remarks about women in the film industry. Demand for Action Against Online Abuse

Vishal went further, calling for uniform legal accountability and equal punishment for social media users and YouTube creators who target female actors with inappropriate comments. He urged Chief Minister Vijay’s government to take strict action against such content creators, framing it as part of a broader need to protect women in cinema from online harassment. Outlook India

Vishal also addressed his past criticism of Udhayanidhi’s production house, Red Giant Movies, over alleged unfair practices during the release of his films Enemy and Mark Antony. He clarified that his comments stemmed from personal professional grievances and did not reflect any change in his regard for Udhayanidhi, whom he described as “too good a person.”

The remarks came at the audio launch of the film Magudam in Chennai, where Vishal spoke candidly about his equation with the DMK leader amid the ongoing political controversy.
