Watch an unknown man misbehaving outside Buckingham Palace, UK

A man was charged outside Buckingham Palace after throwing suspected shotgun bullets into Palace grounds, cops have said.

A cordon was pitched, and a controlled blast was carried out following the incident, which evolved at about 19:00 BST on Tuesday outside Buckingham palace.

The man was charged on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. There are no signs of any injuries.

The incident is not now being treated as terror-related. Overnight trials for the Coronation on Saturday went ahead as scheduled.

Police tell the man was investigated, and a cutter was found, but he was not carrying a gun. They say he was also found to have a suspicious sack and that a controlled explosion was carried out as a precaution following a specialist assessment.

It is understood it is being feted as an isolated mental health occurrence.

The detention arrives just four days before the King’s Coronation celebrations – which will be attended by world dignities and other royals worldwide.

Security minister Tom Tugendhat explained the reply as “a great piece of policing”, continuing that “a huge security operation” is in position ahead of the Coronation.

“As you saw last evening, the cops and security services are ready to interfere when required,” he told BBC Breakfast.
