Captain Virat Kohli of India has made multiple pleasures. He led India to Australia’s first-ever Test Series victory in 2018-19.
Kohli has also maintained a phenomenal winning rate as captain in all formats and is known as one of the world’s most inspirational leaders.
But Kohli has not yet managed to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore to a single trophy in the Indian Premier League.
By Cricketing Pundits:
With the tournament heading to the UAE, cricketing pundits agree that this year’s RCB might have a chance as RCB bowlers would enjoy bowling amid turning and slow conditions offered by the country’s pitches.
The pundits also agree RCB has made some substantial acquisitions this year and looks more like a balanced team.
On being asked about the same observations, Gautam Gambhir, former Indian cricketer and twice IPL winning captain, said that if the RCB squad had previously lacked balance, then Kohli should have tackled it in previous seasons.
“The first thing that’s happened is that since 2016 Virat Kohli has been captaining RCB. So if the balance hadn’t been there before, then Virat Kohli should have gotten more involved, “Gambhir said during a Star Sports interaction.
Gambhir on RCB batting:
The Gautam Gambhir also said that RCB looks like a more batting-heavy device he feels, but also added that the bowlers would surely enjoy bowling in UAE pitches compared to Chinnaswamy’s.
“I also believe it looks a little batting-heavy on RCB. But one thing you might see a bit different is that the bowlers would be satisfied because, at Chinnaswamy Stadium, they won’t have to play seven matches.
You’re going to play in Abu Dhabi and Dubai which have possibly more significant fields, wickets are not as plain as Chinnaswamy.
Judging the bowlers from the Chinnaswamy point of view is often difficult.
Gambhir on RCB bowlers:
“India’s smaller ground and the latest wicket is in Chinnaswamy so that bowlers will be happier, and bowlers like Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini could see a better result,” Gambhir said.
Gambhir also added that the player Chris Morris would add versatility in both batting and bowling to the RCB unit. “Chris Morris offers the RCB squad a balance, a decent all-rounder even though he hasn’t played a lot of crickets.
As a batsman, he can be a finisher and can send you four overs and a bowl at death as well.
“They also have Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar, but it will have to be seen which 4 RCB players from overseas are picking in their playing XI,” Gambhir signed off.
