Malaika, who turns 47 on Friday, was married in 1998 to Arbaaz. They’ve got a son who’s named Arhaan. The couple, however, agreed in 2017 to part ways.

Kareena had been told by the actor that such a major decision was not easily made. Her family and loved ones begged her to rethink her decision again and again, but she realized what to do. Like no other big decision in your life, it’s never, ever easy.
Somebody has to be charged at the end of the day. You still have to point someone’s fingers at them. I guess it’s the general human nature of going about things,’ she said.
We had a lot of things in mind and weighed every possible pro and con. And then we concluded that we’d be better off going our separate ways because we’d be better people.
Since we were two people in a situation that made each other incredibly sad, affecting the lives of everybody else around us, “she said.”
Nobody really encourages you to just go ahead on the right. I even had my family sit with me the night before the divorce and ask me, you know? I’ve heard this all the time, and maybe understandably so because they’re people who care and worry about you.
Malaika said she had also been called courageous by a few for moving through with the divorce. If you’re in an unhappy marriage and you plan to do so, you can do so with a great deal of integrity and self-respect.

“As for Arhaan, Malaika said,” In a happy world, I would much rather see my child than being exposed to a world that is absolutely destructive. My child is becoming more welcoming with time.
He can see that we are both much happier as individuals than we were in our marriage,” she stated on the show, adding, “One day, he actually turned around, and he said to me, ‘Mom, it’s nice to see you happy and smiling.’
