Why Harmanpreet Kaur got suspended? And for how many matches

Harmanpreet Kaur got suspended; because of her burst out during the last ODI against Bangladesh; Kaur will not be allowed to play the upcoming two matches. 

BCCI president Roger Binny and head of cricket VVS Laxman would interrogate women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur over her outbursts during the recently finished ODIs against Bangladesh, board secretary Jay Shah stated on Thursday.

“Roger Binny and Laxman will question Harmanpreet on her outbursts during the third ODI against Bangladesh,” Shah told reporters in New Delhi.

The reason why Harmanpreet Kaur got suspended:

Kaur, who broke the stumps after being given out by the on-field umpire in the third and final ODI against Bangladesh last week, resumed her rant in the post-match presentation.

Following the incident, the International Cricket Council stepped in and punished Kaur for two matches, ruling her out of India’s opening two games at the Hangzhou Asiad.

The cricketer faces criticism:

Since the incident, Kaur has endured harsh criticism for her on-field actions and conduct, which included ridiculing the Bangladesh players during the trophy presentation. 

Former India captain Diana Edulji wrote in The Indian Express that the BCCI should discipline Kaur for her behaviour since she sets a negative example as a captain.

And, on the sidelines of a meeting with state unit officials in New Delhi, BCCI secretary Shah stated that the Indian board will not appeal the ICC’s two-match suspension.
