Since November 26, farmers have been protesting in Singh and other border points of Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that farmers were misled by the reforms initiated by his government in the agricultural sector.
They are misled into thinking that their lands would be invaded by others,’ said PM Modi.
Again the union leaders made it clear that the government must repeal all three laws first.
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court will hear a petition demanding the expulsion of farmers protesting against the agricultural laws of the Centre from the boundaries of Delhi.
Since November 26, farmers have been protesting in Singh and other border points of Delhi, trying to revoke the three laws approved in September.
Rishabh Sharma filed the petition:
The petition was filed by Rishabh Sharma, a law student, and would be heard by Chief Justice S A Bobde, Justice A S Bopanna as well as Justice V Ramasubramanian. In his petition, Sharma stated that because of road blockades, commuters face hardships and the gatherings could lead to a rise in the numbers of cases of Covid-19.
As PM Modi stated:
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that farmers were misled by the reforms initiated by his government in the agricultural sector. He also struck out at the opposition parties and associations of farmers.
Modi expressed surprise also at protests sparked in September by the changes that his government implemented. Such initiatives, which could not be enforced in the past, had been requested by some opposition parties as well as farmers’ unions all along, he stated at Dhordo in Kutch, Gujarat.
Farmers are being misled Modi said:
The agricultural reforms are misleading the farmers. They are misled into thinking that their lands would be invaded by others,’ said PM Modi in Hindi. “These reforms are essentially the same as the ones demanded over the years by farmer’s organizations even the opposition,” he stated.
Farmers are protested against the law passed recently:
Farmers are protested against the currently enacted Farmers’ Produce Exchange and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020; the Price Guarantee and Farm Services Agreement 2020 for Farmers (Empowerment and Protection); and the Necessary Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
As farmer leader stated on Tuesday:
Meanwhile, farmers’ leaders said on Tuesday that in a hardening of their stand, they would “make” the Centre repeal the three new agri laws. Again the union leaders made it clear that the government must repeal all three laws first, and only then will more talks take place. After five rounds, talks between the government and the farmers’ unions have stayed stuck.
