Lord, I will never regret what he did not give because he has given me so much that I never imagined.
Such is the story of 80 percent Divyang Bhavnaben of Mehsana. Who has been doing housework for the last 16 years. She has raised her one-and-a-half-year-old son to 17 years old.
March 8 is celebrated around the world as World Women’s Day. On this day, the stories of many women come before the world. Then today, we have to talk about a woman whose struggle is over. Although the woman herself is 80 percent disabled, she is raising her son passionately and following him.
Listening to the struggle story of Bhavnaben Thakor, who lives in the Soniwad area in Mehsana city, makes people’s hair stand on end. A few years ago, the widow lived with her husband and son on Malgodown Road.
At that time, the house’s roof fell on the woman, injuring her and leaving her permanently disabled. For the past 16 years, she has cared for the baby and did housework while sleeping on the bed.
Bhavnaben Thakor lived with her husband Ramanji and one and a half-year-old son Vipul in a rented house in the Malgodown area of the city, where the tragedy took place in 2007.
While standing in their home gallery, the woman fell on the ground as the gallery of the dilapidated house became a friend. Injury to the lumbar spine caused the lower part of the lumbar region to stop working permanently.
Cancer-stricken husband also died
six months after the accident. Six months after the roof collapse on Bhavnaben, her cancer-stricken husband also died.
Today the son is 17 years old and has become a support to the woman. Local Malgodown traders are helping to understand the plight of women. However, the woman said, “It is a pity that no leader of the Thakor community from which I come has even asked about me.”
She was sleeping, cooking, doing things like clothes.
Bhavnaben thakor who has a permanent disability in an accident, does all the work herself, including cooking and washing clothes in her house while sleeping. However, her son Vipul is always on hand to help her with her garbage or other heavy work.
Widow Assistance
Receives After the death of Bhavnaben’s husband, she gets a government widow’s aid, but she is having great difficulty obtaining a government certificate of disability.
When her husband was alive, she used to push for a certificate of disability in a government office, but even 14 years after her husband’s death, she had to wait for a certificate.
I am physically handicapped, not mentally: Bhavnaben
Bhavnaben said that the problem was that the body did not support her, and there was no one to earn money at home.
The father died when the son was nine years old. On the one hand, teaching a son or running a house was not the same. The 1200 widow’s home did not work.
But the situation is a bit better when organizations come to our place during a lockdown. People send the house rent and grocery kit with social status.
Bhavnaben further said that even though I am handicapped, I am not mentally handicapped yet. I have a son. So I have hope in my mind that my son will continue to study.
Courage in me means that I am a woman, and woman is power, so I have not lost courage. Even though the body does not support me, I do not lose courage; I do whatever work I can.
On Women’s Day, I would like to say the same thing to every woman.
Despite all these problems, I live with passion, and my legs are not moving, but my hands are moving, so there is no trouble. That is, if any trouble or sorrow comes, do not be helpless. Face it with courage and live with passion.
