Veteran actor Yusuf Hussein, known for his roles in films such as “Dhoom 2”, “Raees,” and “Road to Sangam,” died Saturday from COVID-19.

He is 73 years old. The actor died here at Lilavati Hospital, Hussein’s son-in-law, director Hansal Mehta, told. Mehta took to Twitter also wrote an emotional note about the actor remembering how Hussein helpe him financially after his film Shahid was ban after two dates.

Veteran actor Yusuf Hussein, known for Vivah, Dhoom 2, and Dil Chahta Hai, died on Friday night. His son-in-law, director Hansal Mehta, confirmed the news and wrote an emotional note about the late actor. Actor Safina’s daughter is married to Mehta. In her letters, Mehta wrote how her father-in-law helped her with her acclaimed film Shahid when she had a “nonexistent” career as a director. Hansal Mehta’s Shahid with Rajkumar Rao was release in 2013.

He also wrote that Yusuf Hussein was not his father-in-law but his father.

His emotional note reads, “I have completed two charts of Shahid. And we’re stuck. I am worried. A nonexistent career as a film director is almost over. He just came to me and said I have a fixed-term deposit, and it doesn’t help me if you have such problems. He wrote a check. The martyr is finished.

That’s Yusuf Hussein. Not my father-in-law, but my father. It would be like if life itself took a physical form. He left today. To remind all women in heaven that they are “Duniya ki sabse khubsurat ladki” and all men that they are “naujwaan rabbits”. And then ends with a booming “I love, I love, I love you”. Yusuf Saab. I owe you this new life. I am an orphan today. Life will never be the same again. I will miss you. My Urdu will still be broken. And yes – I love you, I love you, I love you!”

Bollywood actors, including Pooja Bhatt and Kubra Sait, responded to his tweet and expressed their condolences. Bhatt wrote: “It made me cry, Hansal. You can’t imagine how you feel. My condolences to everyone! While Sait’s answer was, “I’m sorry for your loss.”
