Yuvraj Singh Trolls Pant After India’s Test Win

India secured a commanding 165-run victory over Sri Lanka in the series-opening Test in Galle, and the win produced a lighter moment off the field as former India star Yuvraj Singh took a playful dig at Rishabh Pant on social media. Pant top-scored for India in the second innings with knocks of 39 and 66, falling just short of both a half-century and a century, a coincidence Yuvraj could not resist teasing him about.

A Hard-Fought Win in Galle

The Galle Test was disrupted repeatedly by rain across all five days, yet India emerged victorious to take a 1-0 lead in the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. Spinner Manav Suthar was the standout performer, picking up a ten-wicket haul across both innings. He was well supported by contributions from KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel, with Padikkal’s career-best 167 proving especially decisive. Sri Lanka’s bowling attack struggled to contain India’s batters, with only spinner Prabath Jayasuriya managing to trouble the visitors.

Pant’s Gesture Toward the Ground Staff

After the result was sealed, Pant turned to Instagram not to celebrate his own form but to thank the Galle ground staff, who worked through the rain interruptions to keep the pitch playable. His short post of gratitude toward the team and support staff set the stage for Yuvraj’s cheeky reply, which highlighted the near-misses in Pant’s twin innings even as he remained India’s leading run-scorer in the second essay of the match.

The win puts India in a strong position heading into the remainder of the series against Sri Lanka, with the batting depth and Suthar’s spin threat giving the visitors plenty of confidence.
