Jharkhand’s political crisis: Ruling UPA MLAs have flown to Raipur, with more likely to follow.

Jharkhand’s political crisis; The BJP has demanded that Hemant Soren be remove as an MLA. Claiming that the Jharkhand chief minister granted himself a mining lease in 2021 while he was the mines minister. The ECI has now sent its recommendation to the state Governor.

MLAs of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government were shifted to Raipur in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday. Amid ongoing political turmoil in Jharkhand, in what could be the start of resort politics until the CM Hemant Soren disqualification case is resolve.

MLAs from Jharkhand’s ruling UPA coalition (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress alliance) arrived on a chartered flight in Raipur. The Jharkhand Assembly has 81 seats, with the ruling alliance holding a 49-member majority. Thirty MLAs are from the JMM, 18 from the Congress, also one from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

Notably, Chhattisgarh is govern by the Congress party.

Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh also a Congress leader paid a visit to the Mayfair Resort in Raipur, where Jharkhand UPA MLAs are camping.

According to sources, 17 Congress MLAs and 15 JMM legislators were camping at Mayfair Resort’s’safe haven. More coalition legislators are expect to arrive at the Chhattisgarh resort in the coming days.

The Chhattisgarh government has tighten security around the resort, also journalists were not permitted to enter. Ramgopal Agrawal and Girish Dewangan, leaders of the Chhattisgarh Congress. Met the MLAs at the airport and drove them to the resort in buses.

JMM claims that the BJP is attempting to steal MLAs from it also the Congress to destabilise the Hemant Soren-led government.

The MLAs were summon to Raipur after Soren convene a crucial meeting of the ruling alliance on Tuesday to map out the coalition’s future strategy. According to a state minister, the meeting was call because the Raj Bhavan has remaine silent on the Election Commission’s decision on Soren’s continue membership as an MLA.

“A critical meeting has been call at the CM’s residence to discuss the situation,” an unnamed minister said.
