A hot start for Oppenheimer at the box office

A hot start for Oppenheimer at the box office

Oppenheimer, helmed by Christopher Nolan, grossed Rs. 20 crores on Saturday, a 15% climb from Friday. With a sum of Rs. 38 crores, makes India the second biggest market overseas for the movie.

Oppenheimer had an amazing Saturday at the Indian box office, making around Rs. 20.25 crores, which was 15 per cent higher than its first-day gains.

Cristopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is already a hit in India:

Considering the movie’s strong beginning in high-end plexes on Friday, with many cinemas reaching total capacity, it would have been good if the film had remained flat or experienced a slight drop on Saturday.

However, the movie avoided any decline and saw a significant increase in ticket sales. The two-day total box office collections in India for Oppenheimer now stand at an outstanding of about Rs. 38 crores, and it is anticipated to get around Rs. 58-59 crores for the weekend.

The most famous Hollywood sensations in India are especially action-adventure franchise movies; for a 3-hour talky drama to put these numbers is fantastic. Credit goes to the movie’s director Christopher Nolan, who commands a rabid following in India.

However, that following was deemed more of a niche, and this was the first time it caused this number.

Though the following has increased considerably, we may see even more essential numbers when the director comes with something with higher commercial worth, like Inception today.

The box office earnings of Oppenheimer at the Indian box office are as follows:

  • Friday: Rs. 17.50 crores
  • Saturday: Rs. 20.25 crores
  • Total: Rs. 37.75 crores

India is the best-performing market for the movie globally. With $7 million plus weekend, it will be just second to the United Kingdom ($12 million) in gross box office earnings, ahead of more significant Hollywood markets like France, Australia, Germany, etc., despite releasing on Friday. At the same time, those mentioned above had four or five days weekend.

It is even better about tickets sold, with around 2.30 million admits, ahead of 1 million in the United Kingdom or 0.70 million in France.
