Haryana, Punjab, Kerala, Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh as well as Rajasthan are reported to account for about 71 per cent of the latest Covid-19 deaths.

India has also expanded its Covid-19 testing capacity substantially, with the number of tests per million population recently reaching the 100,000 marks.
One million tests in a single day in India:
On average, for at least three months, India has been performing one million tests to detect Covid-19 in a single day.
To date, 2,165 laboratories across the country have been approved to conduct the tests by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), which spearheads India’s Covid-19 testing initiative.
Out of all these laboratories, the government sector has 1,175 laboratories, and the private sector has 990.
