Ahmedabad: fresh rainfall brings relief to the city after dry spell

Amid the ongoing joyous season, a fresh bout of showers in Ahmedabad has brought relief from health for the city’s people. Here’s what IMD reported about the week-long weather.

On Saturday, Ahmedabad experienced a fresh bout of rain following a period of dry weather, with several areas receiving light to moderate showers.

According to the India Meteorology Department (IMD), more thundershowers and rain are expected in the city later in the evening.

Residents took to social media platform X to share visuals of the rainfall, with many welcoming the showers as a welcome break from the October heat. The city’s minimum temperature was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius.

Rain to Recede Soon

The IMD has predicted that the rain will likely taper off by Saturday night or Sunday morning. Afterward, clear skies and sunny weather are expected to dominate the city throughout the upcoming week, giving people relief from wet conditions.

Rain Forecast for South Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are forecasted across various districts of South Gujarat, including Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad, as well as in Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

Several districts in the Saurashtra-Kutch region, such as Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, and Dwarka, are also expected to see rain.

In North Gujarat, isolated rainfall is predicted in Panchmahal and Dahod districts on October 20. However, the rain is not expected to impact Diwali shopping plans, with markets expected to remain bustling during the festive season.

Yellow Alert Issued in Several Areas

A yellow alert has been issued for multiple regions in Gujarat, warning of potential heavy rain at isolated places. These include districts in South Gujarat, such as Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, and Valsad, as well as areas in Saurashtra like Amreli and Bhavnagar.
