The club board has decided to implement a pay cut on players. But with this decision, only three players have agreed to the pay cut decision by the board.
First-team players oppose Barcelona pay cut policy:
Barcelona has decided to start the second round of pay cut in 2021 according to the Catalunya Radio show La TdT.
The club has decided to implement the first team players. In the previous season, Barcelona has suffered a loss of 200 million euros.
In this time, the first team players have agreed to the pay cut decision during the business end.
The pay cut is expected to be at 30%. But the players have opposed this time too, for another round of pay cut.
The first team players have written a letter to the board opposing the pay cut—three players including Marc – Andre Ter Stegen, Sergio Dest, and Clement Lenglet.
Ter Stegen among three players to help with Barcelona wage bill loss:
The three players who refused to agree to a pay cut are not amongst the highest earners at the club. Ter Stegen’s salary is estimated to be 157,000 euros according to salary sport.
Neither are Sergio Dest and Clement Lenglet. Meanwhile, there’s still no clarity if the players will have the power to rescind their contracts and the chance to negotiate a free transfer if they agree to the second round of pay cuts.
Barcelona’s wage bill is estimated to be 391 million euros. To help the club, the previous season the first team players agreed to a 70% pay cut.
This helped the club to pay the salaries of Non-playing staff. Further days will result in more conflicts.
