Bharat Rang Mahotsav is all set to open in Kachchh, Gujarat

India’s largest theatre festival, Bharat Rang Mahotsav, was successfully launched in Mumbai and expanded to the Kachchh district of Gujarat. 

The festival kicked off in Bhuj with the staging of ‘Uttararamacharitam,’ featuring a team of 25 National School of Drama (NSD) students, marking the beginning of a vibrant cultural celebration.

‘Golden Jubilee’ and Varied Performances:

The Bhuj segment of the festival featured ‘Golden Jubilee,’ written and directed by Saurabh Nayyar, to be presented by students of the Jubilee Theatre Company, Mumbai. 

The festival promises diverse performances, workshops, and discussions, showcasing the richness of India’s performing arts and culture.

Rangprayog’s Aadi Vikramaditya Performance in Delhi:

At the Delhi Campus, Rangprayog, MPSD, performed ‘Aadi Vikramaditya,’ a compilation of narratives from Sinhasana Battisi and Betaal Pachchisi known for their cultural significance. 

Drawing from thirty-two tales, the play exemplifies the cultural diversity and storytelling traditions embedded in India’s theatrical heritage.

21-Day Cultural Event Across 15 Cities:

Bharat Rang Mahotsav, spanning 21 days, will unfold in 15 cities across India, featuring over 150 plays, workshops, and discussions. 

The festival will showcase various theatrical forms, including international productions, folk and traditional plays, modern dramas, graduate showcases, and collegiate street plays.

In its 25th year, Bharat Rang Mahotsav introduced the innovative Rang Haat initiative, aiming to create Asia’s first global theatre market.

Rang Haat brings theatre artists, programmers, patrons, and supporters together to discover hidden talent, showcase international projects, and foster creative and financial partnerships.

Nationwide Celebration of Theatre:

This year’s festival holds special significance as it celebrates the transformative power of theatre, bringing together diverse theatrical voices. 

Parallel venues across Mumbai, Pune, Bhuj, Vijayawada, Jodhpur, Dibrugarh, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ramnagar, and Srinagar ensure a nationwide celebration of India’s vibrant theatre landscape.
