Veteran actor Bhim Vakani passed away on Tuesday, leaving the Indian entertainment industry in mourning. The news was confirmed by Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Kumarr Modi, who described the loss as deeply personal. “It feels like a part of my family has gone with him,” Modi told MoneyControl, adding that Bhim would often visit him at home whenever he came to Mumbai.

A Legacy Across Film, Theatre, and Television

Bhim Vakani built a distinguished career spanning decades in Hindi cinema, Gujarati theatre, and television. Best known to mainstream audiences as the father of beloved TMKOC actress Disha Vakani, he carved his own identity through memorable supporting roles in major Bollywood productions. He appeared in celebrated films such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lagaan, and Devdas, sharing screen space with icons like Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan. Beyond acting, he was also a talented painter and director, earning widespread respect for his versatility throughout his career.

Asit Modi credited Bhim Vakani as a driving force behind his daughter Disha’s remarkable rise to fame as Dayaben in TMKOC.
