According to AFP, an Indian gang operated a Bihar fake police station from a hotel for eight months. Dressing up as officers and extorting money from hundreds of people.
The gang set up the fake PS barely 500 meters from the local police chief’s house. They are wearing uniforms with rank badges and carrying guns, according to the – real – police official DC Srivastava.
The gang would then charge locals who came into the phony station to file complaints. And cases while taking money from others by promising to help them find social housing or jobs with the police.
The scam was expose when a genuine police officer noticed two gang members carrying guns in local workshops rather than service-issue weapons.
At least six gang members, adding two women, were apprehend, but the ringleader remains at large, according to Srivastava.
