BJP Fields Top Leaders as Star Campaigners for West Bengal Polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party has submitted its official list of star campaigners to the Election Commission of India ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, signalling an aggressive push to unseat the ruling Trinamool Congress in one of India’s most politically contested states.

The list includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Dharmendra Pradhan, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, among several other senior leaders.

Addressing a rally in Cooch Behar, Prime Minister Modi launched a pointed attack on the TMC-led state government, urging voters to remain fearless on polling day. “No matter how much the TMC goons intimidate you on polling day, you must have trust in the law,” he said, promising that a BJP government would restore development and eliminate fear across Bengal.

Modi also used the platform to spotlight the Women’s Reservation Act, reiterating the Centre’s commitment to reserving 33% of legislative seats for women beginning with the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. West Bengal is scheduled to vote in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with vote counting set for May 4.
