Sari Takes Centre Stage at Chetak Screen Awards 2026 Red Carpet

The Chetak Screen Awards 2026 made a grand return to Mumbai on April 5 after a seven-year hiatus, celebrating talent from both theatrical and OTT platforms across 31 categories. While the evening shimmered with glamour and high fashion, one garment quietly dominated the red carpet — the timeless sari.

Celebrities arrived in an array of stunning drapes, blending tradition with contemporary flair, making the sari the undisputed fashion statement of the night.

Modern Interpretations Steal the Show

Sonali Bendre turned heads with a monochrome metallic silver-black brocade sari styled in a bold low-waist, skirt-style drape, paired with a structured kurta-style top. Host Alia Bhatt dazzled in a Gaurav Gupta mogra sari featuring a dramatic train, an embellished sleeveless blouse, and a layered diamond choker, effortlessly balancing grandeur with a clean, polished finish.

Elegance in Every Drape

Konkana Sen Sharma charmed in a deep blue floral saree with minimal silver jewellery, while Girija Oak radiated traditional grace in a soft ivory sari with a subtle gold border. Nita Ambani opted for an archival champagne-gold Sabyasachi drape from the Summer 2020 collection, originally worn by her daughter Isha Ambani.

Poonam Dhillon brought vibrant energy in a deep purple shimmer sari, Shubhangi Atre went contemporary in lime green, and Sheeba Chaddha exuded quiet elegance in classic pink with silver embroidery.

Together, these looks cemented the sari’s status as both a cultural treasure and an ever-evolving fashion canvas.
