In a total U-turn, Trump urged people to wear face
masks to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, says the US is first in
testing and India is second.
On Tuesday, United States President Donald Trump in a complete U-turn, reversed his stand on
wearing masks and urged the people to take proper precautions, and wear masks.
Trump also cautioned that the COVID-19 situation in the US is likely to “get
worse before it gets better.”
US cases surge past 3.97
million:
United States is the worst-affected nation from the novel COVID-19 pandemic and as per Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 tracker, the tally of infected patients in the US has gone past 3.97 million. Addressing a media briefing at the White House, Trump cautioned the people of the US and said,” Some areas of our country are doing very well. Others are doing less well. It will probably, unfortunately, get worse before it gets better.” Trump also informed that the Coronavirus vaccines will come sooner than expected and that the aim of his administration is not just to contain the pandemic, but to end it.
Face-masks are effective says

masks due to a “concerning rise” in the southern parts of the country, the US
President stated,” We are asking everybody that when you are not able to
socially distance, wear a mask. Whether you like the mask or not, they have an
impact. They will have an effect and we need everything we can get.” Trump had
ridiculed those who wore a mask previously when the disease had just started
rising in the states.
Trump says the US first, India
second in terms of Coronavirus testing:
Trump also said that the US was
the leading the world in Coronavirus testing, with India being second. He said, ”We’re going to be over
50 million tests, the second country is India with 12 million tests. Then you
have seven million, six million, and four million. I think that we are doing a
tremendous amount of testing. Trump also called the disease “China virus”, a
vicious and dangerous illness.
